Community Programs

At the Hiram Police Department (HPD), we believe the best way for us to learn about each other and solve problems together is to create personal connections through face-to-face dialogue.

That is why we offer many ways for you to learn more about your police department and for us to learn more about you. We encourage you to get involved in our many community programs. You can choose the one that works best for your interests and schedule or you can participate in several programs.

Here are a few of the programs we offer.

Citizens Police Academy:

One of the best ways community members can become actively engaged with HPD is through the Citizens Police Academy (CPA). The CPA is open to individuals who live or work in the City of Hiram. There is no tuition to qualified citizens. The course covers day-to-day operations of the Police Department as well as different areas of law enforcement such as investigations, crime scene processing, defensive tactics, firearms, crime prevention and may other exciting topics of “police work”.

Ride-Along Program:

To understand what our officers do during a shift, sign up for a Ride-Along. This experience will give you an inside look at police work during a six-hour shift.

Police Explorer Program:

The Explorer Program gives youth an excellent opportunity to learn more about the law enforcement profession.
